Sliding window:

Parallel window:

From the prespective of structural point of view, the sash of the parallel window is pushed out parallel to the wall and it does not occupy indoor or outdoor space when opened, greatly reduce spaces.
Disadvantages: The performance of ventilation is not as good as casement or sliding windows and the cost is high too.
